Despite it All

My mouth had been giving me trouble, and all the pain killers were kind of messing with me, so when my dentist offered to do an emergency root canal on Saturday, March 14 - the night before Mr. Handsome's birthday, I went for it. It was bad. It took forever and it hurt, but it was done. I wasn't in great shape the next day either, but I somehow pulled through. I managed to bake a cake and put together a pretty decent meal. Thankfully, Todd wanted to stay home that day to prepare the shop for Mark's upcoming visit, so I could take my time.

An Epic Birthday

Today was an important day for me. For months I've wanted to visit my cousin Todd in the Canora care home, and, long story short, I was finally able to make arrangements. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. It bothers me to think of how lonely he is in there. So that was huge. After leaving Canora, Todd and I went to lunch at Brown's where I had the tuna salad I've been waiting for. Sweet Wanderers provided a lovely dessert. That dream donut came with a lovely jar candle, card and a honey crueller from Todd and Gloria. Yes, I ate them both, just not all at once. Todd and Kaitlynn prepared a wonderful supper and they all spoiled me with lovely gifts. The weather even co-operated and I was able to take a long, leisurely walk with Bear. He even got to enjoy water in the ditch - definitely one of his all time favourite things.  Let's not talk about the haircut until I figure out how to work with it. Oy. ...

As Promised

I actually stuck to my goal of working on photos this morning! I could have been decorating the house for Christmas, which I'm certain I'll be doing later because it's too darn cold to spend much time outside. I did all of these photos with my 50mm lens. My straight shooter, and they turned out not too bad. I didn't have too much noise, although I had some problems with clarity. Anyway, the topic is about Kaitlynn's 17th birthday. She stayed home from school on the morning of Friday, December 6th, but went in for lunch with her friends, and took in her afternoon classes. She spent the night at Maddie's and was home by 2pm on Saturday.  Loretta drove up from Regina, and we had a simple meal of perogies, sausage and of course, cake. She received money and gifts for her new apartment in the summer - oven mitts, dish towels and frying pans. She'll be taking a lot of hand-me-downs, but some things are just better new. These represente...

Thankful To Be Ninety!

Fred (Grandpa, Dad) is an impressive 90 years old! We had our turkey and pumpkin pie day on Sunday and while we all enjoyed it, the bad weather and 5 quarters of wheat still in the field was on our minds. But we made the most of it and had another get together on the 14, this time for roast beef and angel food cake. Jared and Grandpa played crib while Kaitlynn napped on the floor. There were also a few nose grunts from Brenda and Todd. Every time we take photos, Grandpa says, "Better do a good job, might be the last one!" It's difficult not to wonder (and feel sad) if it will be. Happy birthday! - and I hope we see, at the very least, a few more good ones!
