I haven't taken a good look at the photos I took on Christmas Day. Mom had had a difficult day, and was looking very tired by the afternoon.  Before Brenda went back, she got Mom and Dad to pose in front of the tree and the photos turned out well.

Almost Forgot

The kitties found their stocking and got into it before I remembered that I had it. The intention was to give it to them Christmas Day,  but it didn't happen until December 29th. I had been feeling rough, barely getting the basics done. They really loved all the little toys. Dusty and Sooty went especially wild over the wee mice. Georgia was the only one to enjoy the little can of tuna. She ate it all over the course of three days.

Slight Change Of Plans

We weren't going to open any gifts today, having planned on opening them all in Edmonton with Tucker, but it is Christmas Day and there are a lot of gifts and only so much room in the Edge. We opened the stocking stuffers from the farm and a few gifts from each other. The rest we will save for our Christmas in Edmonton.  Todd gave me a a handsome, handmade journal.  It is leather with cotton paper and will make a beautiful sketchbook.  Jared gave me a unique book by a Polish author. It is a collection of his notes during the German occupation of France. My other two favorite gifts are a little cookie jar and a ball that you stuff with nesting material for birds.  It is already hanging out in the yard. I gave Todd his work jacket because it was such a bulky gift and we gave Jared his card binder so he could spend the day organizing,  one of his favorite things to do. We had Christmas Eve at the farm, and, as expected,  it was difficult.  Glen's de...

Yucky Days

I'm stuck in here. So my boys are sending me photos from home.

Carrying On

It wasn't a joy filled day, but I did get the house decorated for the holidays. But, the house feels cozy and friendlier with the tree and all the wreaths and garlands. And, we need that right now.   The kitties had an exceptionally fun day as their home transformed.  Todd rewired the lights so that we didn't have clunky transformers that we would have to try and hide in the tree.

Goodbye

While in Edmonton,  I had an awful dream that Glen had a heart attack and passed away. I shared my dream with Todd and the kids and thought no more of it. Exactly a week after that, the unthinkable happened and we lost our brother and uncle.  Todd headed to the farm early on Tuesday,  November 21 to haul grain. Oddly, Glen wasn't up and about. Todd checked on him, fearing the worst, and sure enough, he was gone. We were, of course,  all shocked.  The grief continues to comes in waves, and most likely will for some time to come. There is a family viewing this Sunday and Monday, the 27th is his funeral.  Good bye Glen. Good bye Uncle G. We will miss you.

A Game-Filled Trip

Magic, Foosball, Escape and Carcassonne were what we used to entertain ourselves during our little Edmonton vacation.  We arrived on Monday, and Mark came down on Wednesday.  Mads joined the crew and we spent the entire afternoon and early evening together.  We made a trip to Warp One. Jared picked up a new card box, a beautiful set of metal dice, a couple sets of sleeves and a card that is sure to be very annoying in future games. Tucker also got some new sleeves, a card box and a new dragon card to build another deck off. Mads found a lovely scroll type poster and has absolutely no room to hang it. We ate at a nice little Chinese restaurant on Whyte, where we ordered way too much food. Good Buddy is the name, and we all enjoyed our food. The condo was very comfortable, especially when all six of us were together. If all goes well with the transaction,  we'll definitely stay there again.
