Milestone

Image
Kaitlynn had her first day of work yesterday and it went well. She got to work with Shauna and even for to take her lunch break at her friend's house. I don't envy KK having to wear those very heavy, black, polyester pants on hot days, but she did okay. Mama bird is busy working on hatching her 4 eggs. I can't wait to see those 4 little fluffballs running around.

Beginnings

As always, May has been busy, a welcome but difficult adjustment from the previous months. The asparagus is producing like crazy, we've had our spring colds, Jared even had to stay home for a day. KK has been practicing her driving and has been daydreaming about what kind of car she might want. She drove me to Theodore to see this Meteor. While on a bike ride with Cheyenne, Kaitlynn spotted this injured red winged blackbird, so we got up close and personal with him and could hardly believe how fuzzy his little head was. We let him go in a quiet spot near the water. Kaitlynn for her first job!!! And this is her snazzy new outfit. We're lucky to have our Co-Op.

Happy 74!

It was quick and to the point because the boys were anxious to get to Canora to pick up their pea seed. It was a lovely cookie dough blizzard cake, but I liked the oreo one better. I have what I think are the crocus bulbs I planted in the fall. Diana doesn't think that's what they are, so I'll have to look it up.

An Early Mother's Day

Forseeing that field work is going to be taking much of his time, Todd decided we would celebrate Mother's day a week early. We'll, that is just fine by me, because Mother's day means plants and I can hardly wait to fill up my greenhouse. So we went to BP's for some lunch and then to the greenhouses. I got all my stuff at Skinner's. I just can't help but be loyal to him after his kindness to me a couple of years ago when he gave me such an incredible on plants after nine died.   This year was a tough one having lost so many seedlings to what I'm fairly certain was bad soil. I'll not be buying Miracle Grow again. So it sure was nice to bring all those plants home and today I am enjoying my greenhouse to the fullest. The weather is so beautiful today that Todd and I (and Bear) went out before breakfast to get a load of rocks. We were home by 7:30, the kids weren't even stirring yet. But we'll get them to help with a load later and we'll ta...

A Week-End Well Wasted

Image
Kaitlynn had a group of friends over on Friday and it was nice enough for our first fire and wiener roast of the season.  It later turned in to a dance/sing-along party when I gave control of my bluetooth speaker over to Denvyr. They had such a good time. Sunday was our warmest day yet at 24 degrees. Almost too warm actually, as Jared and I headed East then North on our bikes for an afternoon picnic.  It would have been pleasant, but then we started to notice a wood tick here and there and then everywhere!  Ick!!!!!  So, we cut it a little short, and next time we won't sit in the grass.
