Happy Easter Fools

Image
All the note said was "Happy Easter!  There are 28 items to be found." I told the kids that the whole house minus the garage and boiler room was fair game. Off they went and after only a couple of minutes were telling me that I had pranked them and there were no treats to be found. They were giving up so easily! No hints came from me however, and within 15 minutes KK headed to our bedroom and that's when the fun began. If there had been a prize, she would have won.  It took them just over another 15 minutes to find all the treats and some of them were in very tricky places.  So it was a short hunt.   The next day, Jared was tidying up his room and not only did he put his candy into a little kit, he colour coordinated them all.

Catch-Up

It's Wednesday, but it feels like a Sunday.  We're smack-dab in the middle of Easter break and we are having a very nice little staycation.  The weather was gorgeous yesterday and I took KK into town to buy shoes and a new jacket for Spring. We found her a great denim that will be the home for her new interest in pins. That collection started when we were at the farm and Grandma pulled out an old suitcase of her Mom's stuff that she wanted us to chose items from.  Jared took a leaf plate, Todd a butterfly jewelry box, (which is really more mine) and KK took some coins and a few pins.   Anyway, before we left Yorkton, we picked up Sophie and the girls enjoyed a fantastic afternoon outside.  The weather was so mild, barely any wind and being in a t-shirt was quite comfortable. After spending some time on the roof, they took a long walk East.  When they got back, we cancelled our indoor dinner plans and replaced them with roasted smokes around the fire. T...

Popout

Image
I've been playing with the new phone, getting to know it better especially where the camera is concerned. I've got the manual mode down, so now to play with the novelty features. "Popout" is kind of fun.  I think it will work very nicely in the flower patch and when the trees have leafed out.  Taking a portrait in a landscape might work nicely as well.  I'll have to see if I can find a willing model later.   I've slowly been bringing Spring into our house over the past month, but yesterday I went all out.  I even felt the need to redress the couch.  That warm 15 degree weather sure lifted my spirits in the afternoon, and now our home reflects the upcoming change of season.   Some people feel it is a waste of time to play around with décor based on the season. But I find it uplifting, a spiritual practice that celebrates what life has to offer.
