Catch-Up

It's Wednesday, but it feels like a Sunday.  We're smack-dab in the middle of Easter break and we are having a very nice little staycation.  The weather was gorgeous yesterday and I took KK into town to buy shoes and a new jacket for Spring. We found her a great denim that will be the home for her new interest in pins. That collection started when we were at the farm and Grandma pulled out an old suitcase of her Mom's stuff that she wanted us to chose items from.  Jared took a leaf plate, Todd a butterfly jewelry box, (which is really more mine) and KK took some coins and a few pins.

Anyway, before we left Yorkton, we picked up Sophie and the girls enjoyed a fantastic afternoon outside.  The weather was so mild, barely any wind and being in a t-shirt was quite comfortable. After spending some time on the roof, they took a long walk East.  When they got back, we cancelled our indoor dinner plans and replaced them with roasted smokes around the fire. The girls had planned an evening of musicals and they managed to get two - "Rent" and "Les Miserables" before needing to get some sleep around 12:30.  I couldn't believe it when I found out this morning that Jared had managed to stay awake and watch both shows as well.  I was out like a light by 10:30 and did not move again until 6am.
This is becoming the norm around here - the kids are eager to stay up late, and I'm hitting the sack by 10 or so.  Todd is my Angel that makes sure everything is running smoothly and goes to bed at the same time the kids do.  He's always been able to get by on less sleep, but nonetheless, I can't express enough gratitude for him keeping an eye on things and letting me rest.

Jared has found a new hobby!  That is an air pistol he's wielding and his targets are cans placed here and there. Todd picked up a tin of 250 pellets yesterday morning, and before supper, each and every one was gone! He claims his aim is getting better though, so we will have to pick up more next trip into town.

Easter was lovely and quiet, spent at the farm.  The kids did their Easter egg hunt here in the morning and it took them a full hour. We helped a bit in the form of "warm and cold." Then it was off for our traditional breakfast that Diana and the girls prepared and it was lovely.  Diana wants to change the tradition to Easter dinner instead of brunch, but no one really liked the thought, myself included. If she really doesn't want to do it anymore, then I will gladly take over. These traditions are more important now than ever before. We've said goodbye to Auntie and Uncle and how long will it before it's Mom and Dad? It will be the traditions that are handed down to us that will keep them alive in our homes and hearts.  Nope. Sorry Mom, but we need them.

Now for some art!  KK did this absolutely wonderful drawing on the computer the other, and at a glance I knew it was one of my favourites.  It just makes my heart sing -

And then I saw this fantastic little idea on Pinterest and now I have a growing collection of these little darlings -

And last, but certainly not least, a pile o'cats!
