November First

It's hard to wrap my mind around the fact that the next thing we celebrate around here will be Kaitlynn's 17th birthday. The grad meeting we had this past week has really made this Grade 12 thing sink in.   Now I'm finding myself listening to meditation book after meditation book in order to cope with these feelings. Fear, sadness, a bit of anger - all have me just a bit on edge. There is no escaping it, so I'm trying to deal with it in the best way I know how - breathing. That's all there really is to it. Just remembering to breath and allowing that sensation to take over my thoughts, so as not to let the worry build up in my busy mind. Halloween was nice, we carved 21 jack o' lanterns.  That doesn't seem like much, but because they were all fairly large, it made for a good display.  We had four families visit us, Ferguson's, Vogels, Rusnaks and the Quintons for a total of 9 kids.  Todd did me the HUGE favour of cleaning all the pumpkins up, not ju...

Mark's Halloween

If his numbers are correct, Mark had at least 130 kids at his door tonight. We had 6. Vogels with their 3, Quintons with 2 and little Zane Rusnak. It's quarter after 9, so I'm assuming we're done. I'm definitely jealous, but at least our car didn't get hit in a parking lot today.

A Long Awaited Visit and Halloween 2018

We had a great visit and even celebrated Denis's 77th birthday on Saturday with a steak dinner and an ice cream cake.  On Sunday morning they left, and it turned out to be a beautiful afternoon, so the kiddos went to the greenhouse to contribute to the Halloween display.

Marshmallow World

All sorts of things have been going on around here.  We didn't feel like were into that much of a hurry to get the yard ready for winter, but we just barely got done when the white stuff started to pile up. And now, we have about a foot of it and we're not even through the first week of November. It looks so gorgeous out there, and somehow, the snow makes it feels warmer out there.  Maybe it is just that cold temperatures are more acceptable when the world is white.   Jared is having some fun here with his little origami boat. This picture does not do those flames justice. They were high and they were hot. Todd just drives along the swath lighting it up with a torch as he goes. KK wanted here hair dyed red and turned out more orange.  We spent an entire morning trying to get it out. We even tried bleach.  For a temporary colour, it sure did take. Guess the weight and win the pumpkin at Save On Foods. Jared said no to this costu...
