Busy Blogging Day

Image
This is my third post here today.  I've been looking back through my camera and have realized just how much I've missed.  There was also Brenda and Stephen's wedding at the end of July, but I'll have to go downstairs for that one.   Firstly, of course I had to take a photo when these two walked out of the house wearing the same t-shirt.  That concert was 6 years ago, and Jared finally fits into his gift.  I should mention that Kaitlynn loves Defy Leppard too. Ok, seriously Honey, that is way too many chocolate Cheerios.  But, if you insist on pigging out, at least get a bigger bowl!     A new store opened up in Yorktown, right next to the Plum Tree on Betts.  It's called "The Cardboard Armoury" and we picked up a couple of new games.  The one we're learning here is called "SmallWorld Underground," and it's not a bad little game. I don't know what is going on here, but I'm on my way to Grandma's raspber...

Stormy Day

Image
A quiet day, spent mostly indoors because of severe storms all around. I've enjoyed watching them, but must admit that a few clouds made me nervous. I'd love to see some rain, but would prefer to skip the tornado and ping pong ball sized hail. The sky seems to be alive, the clouds are moving so quickly, and the deep rumbling of thunder intensifies the mood, a suspenseful feeling. Are we going to hit, or will it pass us by?

Camp Day

Image
We drove to Duck Mountain this afternoon to drop Jared off at St. Michael's Camp. He was pretty excited, especially for the "swings of death" Kaitlynn had told him about after her trip to Ampo a couple of years ago. Actually, she's talked about them often and how much fun they were.  They sounded dangerous, and now that I've seen, I'd like them torn down please. I hope he doesn't get too seriously injured. The cabin he's in is rustic to say the least. The bunk beds may be more of a death trap than the swings. Oy! I thought they were going to come down when he tried to get on.  He just had to have the top bunk of course. I don't know why camp seemed like such a great idea.  I couldn't wait to take him.  As we were leaving, I wanted badly to take him home with me, and I miss him so much already.  It didn't help that he gave me the cold shoulder when we left. No public displays of affection for him.  Good thing we took the time last night...

Start of Summer

I told Jared we would try to get out to the beach yesterday, and so we did. Work all done and picnic packed, it was after 5 when we arrived. Kids had a swim, and we enjoyed the shade just off the beach. Ice cream cones for the ride home wrapped up our little jaunt. Today, we enjoyed our customary Ostapovitch get together for Lorretta's birthday. It turned out to be a nice evening for a weiner roast. Ribbon jello - care of Mrs. Skehar. Amy called this morning to tell me that our cousin Louis Roebuck passed away last night and if that wasn't awful enough, cousin Todd has MS. This news loomed over me all day and made me feel heavy.
