Roadside Visit

Image
If a cat is on the side of the road and hasn't completely disappeared when the car comes near, it is damn near impossible to convince Kaitlynn not to stop and give it some love. This was the case with kitten that lives somewhere near (maybe with) my cousin on the Springside grid. What a cute, and friendly this little one is. A lovely tortoiseshell that made us a few minutes late meeting Aunty Booboo in Springside. Aunty completely understood. Of course.

A Friendly Farm

Image
Last Friday I got to visit Margaret's farm. I sort of invited myself out there, but was very warmly greeted by not only Margaret, but also her dog, cats and of course, llamas! Baby is 5 months old and hanging out with Big Brother. This is Baby's big brother. A group of females visiting with Jinks. Jinks having a snuggle with a beautiful horse, whose name I have forgotten.

Work Work Work

Yesterday we got the school supplies taken care of, so in case pulling out the combines wasn't enough, soon we'll be seeing the school buses in the yard again.  Oy, but summer went by fast.  If only winter could do the same thing. I spent some time on the combine with my Honey and saw how the straight-cutter worked.  It was fascinating for all of 2 minutes... sorry Honey.   Yes, that is a Cadillac out in the field. Grandpa was hauling grain. Kaitlynn is working a lot these last couple weeks of summer and is trying to make friends with Diesel the cat, so that she might rescue the poor skinny thing.  Now we suspect that she has kittens and that has complicated things a bit.   KK has also been working on her digital art a lot lately.

Sausage Kitty

Sooty often stretches himself out to epic lengths, and I think he set a new record today.  Our "sausage kitty" is always able to entertain us. Not that he wants to and I'm quite sure he often wonders what the fuss is all about.

Grateful

Grateful for food, warm clothing and a family that loves us. Georgia can't hear a can being opened to come see if she'll get a lick of dog food.  Her eyes get so wide when that fork comes her way. Todd is all ready to go clean grain in the nasty cold weather.  It is way too cold to be outside today, but work has to get done. Last weekend, we drove to Regina to take Loretta out for lunch. It was nice, but it didn't seem like it quite enough.  So the kids made cards and we picked up a gift card for Winner's.  I'll mail it all on Monday.

Renewed Chairs

Feeling loads better today even though I had a terrible sleep due to last night's wicked windstorm.  It sounded like a freight train was going by, or at times, maybe even coming through the house.  This attack went for several hours from shortly after 11pm and dying down sometime after 2:30am.  I didn't sleep a wink in those hours, but could only imagine the damage that it could possibly be causing outside.  I was especially worried about the greenhouse.  It's been incredibly cold today and so I haven't done a proper walk about the yard, but it seems everything is fine. I had to reset some things by the front door, but nothing was damaged.  Poor Bear though!  He sure got his tail in a knot when that wind came up.  Todd braved the winds and took him to the shop where he spent the rest of the night.  He wasn't all that eager to come out this morning either.  But it is sunny, and so he has spent most of his day lying on the deck out o...

Not A Great Way To Start

Image
I'm feeling rough this morning.  Really, it's a miracle I've lasted this long with no major signs of the flu.  But today I have to move very slowly, maybe even go back to bed once I've done what I have to do.  Kaitlynn went to her piano lesson this morning despite feeling very tired. Still feverish this morning, I made an appointment with our family doctor and Todd is taking her in.  It is a very difficult time to be ill for her with the Grade 5 piano exam in two weeks.  But her teacher feels she is at a level, that if she feels okay enough to play, she will pass.  If not well enough in a week though, we have to postpone until June.  Not the end of the world end.  It will be the end of the world tomorrow though, if she can't go to school.  She loves school so very much, and misses her friends.   Jared is feeling fine, and has made no mention of going back to school.  He has been enjoying his treats and if I let him, would eat h...
