Not A Great Way To Start

I'm feeling rough this morning.  Really, it's a miracle I've lasted this long with no major signs of the flu.  But today I have to move very slowly, maybe even go back to bed once I've done what I have to do.  Kaitlynn went to her piano lesson this morning despite feeling very tired. Still feverish this morning, I made an appointment with our family doctor and Todd is taking her in.  It is a very difficult time to be ill for her with the Grade 5 piano exam in two weeks.  But her teacher feels she is at a level, that if she feels okay enough to play, she will pass.  If not well enough in a week though, we have to postpone until June.  Not the end of the world end.  It will be the end of the world tomorrow though, if she can't go to school.  She loves school so very much, and misses her friends.

Jared is feeling fine, and has made no mention of going back to school.  He has been enjoying his treats and if I let him, would eat himself into a sugar induced coma.  I hate to think of how he will feed himself in 8 years when he moves out. Writing his Grade 4 piano in two weeks, he is looking forward to the break afterwards, albeit a short one.  We have been playing a lot of board games with Jared through the holidays.  KK jumps in sometimes too, but Jared is almost always up for a playing. Ticket To Ride, Battleship, Risk, and Settlers of Catan are a few of our favourites.

Here we are playing "Risk," where KK is the reigning champion and this was the first time I won. Jared is learning strategy quickly and soon, this game is going take way too long to play. The time before this, KK took advantage of Jared's aggressive tactics, and won the game in 4 rounds.

The cushion fell on his head when I sat down on the couch.  He was offended at first, but then decided
it was comfortable and has been there ever since.
