Fleeting Passions

Image
Kaitlynn became suddenly obsessed with Shiba Inus one day and proceeded to draw 8 of them. That was it, just one day and a small but lovely collection of art was created. They are affectionately called Sheebs. Jared pounced on a rubik's cube one day, learned the sequence on how to solve it and had it mastered by the next day.  Kid has a an excellent memory.

Stormy Day

Image
A quiet day, spent mostly indoors because of severe storms all around. I've enjoyed watching them, but must admit that a few clouds made me nervous. I'd love to see some rain, but would prefer to skip the tornado and ping pong ball sized hail. The sky seems to be alive, the clouds are moving so quickly, and the deep rumbling of thunder intensifies the mood, a suspenseful feeling. Are we going to hit, or will it pass us by?

Just Hanging Out

Kaitlynn on her bed, checking out her tumbler feed and Crushie on the sill, these are common sights.

Putting the Nest Back Together

Image
The kids came home on Saturday, and even though Todd and I didn't get much time together, we were happy to have them back with us. We were even happier to hear that they both had a fantastic time and want to go again. We were not even done the laundry and we were back on the road to Stenan for a celebration dinner at Rawhides. We will definitely be going back, probably again before fall. Jared's rustic cabin, (that's being kind) that Kaitlynn also stayed in when she went to Ampo. The prayer procession. There was plenty of religion involved, but Jared didn't mind. He said the fun far outweighed the boring parts.  The sun was shining in his eyes and he couldn't see the tablet screen. Susan got Kaitlynn home just after 9pm. Todd's first major purchase for the farm. Grandpa found a great deal on an old seed cleaner at an auction sale. It was a bit of an ordeal getting it home. Chosing a few tunes at Rawhides, we took our time th...

Kaitlynn's Turn

Image
Five o' clock in the morning came pretty quick, but everyone was on the ball and we were gone by 5:30. I think Tim Horton's was a contributing factor in our enthusiasm. Have a great time girls!!! Wow, don't choke on it. One Punch Man - Apparently.  He was very impressed that our girls had heard of him!

Camp Day

Image
We drove to Duck Mountain this afternoon to drop Jared off at St. Michael's Camp. He was pretty excited, especially for the "swings of death" Kaitlynn had told him about after her trip to Ampo a couple of years ago. Actually, she's talked about them often and how much fun they were.  They sounded dangerous, and now that I've seen, I'd like them torn down please. I hope he doesn't get too seriously injured. The cabin he's in is rustic to say the least. The bunk beds may be more of a death trap than the swings. Oy! I thought they were going to come down when he tried to get on.  He just had to have the top bunk of course. I don't know why camp seemed like such a great idea.  I couldn't wait to take him.  As we were leaving, I wanted badly to take him home with me, and I miss him so much already.  It didn't help that he gave me the cold shoulder when we left. No public displays of affection for him.  Good thing we took the time last night...

Mini Trip

A lovely day spent in Regina. A bit of shopping in the morning followed by lunch at a Thai restaurant,  "Siam."  I just knew what I wanted to eat. We really enjoyed the new "Wonderwoman" movie although Jared wasn't overly impressed with me making him pose for this photo. The day was what we intended, spent together. Happy 20th anniversary to a wonderful  marriage. Here we are at the hobby shop, Jared posing by a model made not from a kit. Incredible detail impressed us all.

Surprises

Image
Made it out to the lake again, that's twice now and school has only been out for a week.  That's a pretty good start. And then it was a quick rip to Yorktown to take advantage of the great price on flower baskets at Superstore. Grabbed 6 more! We got home, and what do I find? Surprises! No hotdogs for me tonight!

A Peaceful Wednesday

Image
With the garden being so thoroughly weeded, (although I can see new little stinkers poking up here and there) I am able to just walk through the yard and enjoy. I'm aiming to relax today, so it just a few basics to stay on top of things.  Amy is at the lake, so we'll head there after lunch today for a visit and then tomorrow, the plan is to take the day off and head to Regina to celebrate our 20th anniversary.

Start of Summer

Image
I told Jared we would try to get out to the beach yesterday, and so we did. Work all done and picnic packed, it was after 5 when we arrived. Kids had a swim, and we enjoyed the shade just off the beach. Ice cream cones for the ride home wrapped up our little jaunt. Today, we enjoyed our customary Ostapovitch get together for Lorretta's birthday. It turned out to be a nice evening for a weiner roast. Ribbon jello - care of Mrs. Skehar. Amy called this morning to tell me that our cousin Louis Roebuck passed away last night and if that wasn't awful enough, cousin Todd has MS. This news loomed over me all day and made me feel heavy.

All In A Day's Work

Image
I can't send out enough love to this little tractor and the man who used it to till my gardens and save hours of work weeding. Lots of affection to my sweetlets who helped me finish weeding where the tillers couldn't go. The overwhelming feeling of being behind last night has lifted and so I feel there is time to enjoy our beautiful yard. Bear Bear is losing a ton of hair lately and so it is time for brushings. I try to get at him everyday, but that doesn't always work out.  He loves the attention though. Jared set up the ramp Daddy O. built for him.  He enjoys launching himself into the air, and so far no major wipe-outs!
