A Bit Of A Break

Image
I wasn't going to address this topic here, but to try and ignore it would only add to the stigma and that will serve no one. Since being diagnosed with severe depression/anxiety at the end of April, I've been struggling to find my way to a path that will lead to healing. Medications are there to help, but at first complicate things and I am still at nearly the beginning of that process. The two biggest challenges I'm facing in this moment are first, making space to be alone so as to gain a better understanding of myself and second, being compassionate with myself. These are both foreign concepts to me. In the meantime, life carries on and I find good moments in among the difficult ones. A thing to celebrate is the garden that I fixed up in our firepit area. I didn't break my back doing it, and had enough energy to make a fire in the afternoon and sit and listen to music for hours. We even had a wiener roast when Kaitlynn got home from work. Home Harvest

Image
Yesterday and today have been busy. I got the potatoes and carrots out of the ground and had some help picking them up at the end of the day. Today I cleaned off the sugar pumpkins, about 144 in all.   Tomorrow, I will take off as many gourds and pumpkins as I can.  Snow in the short-term forecast has my panties in a knot!  Fred was fairly certain there would be no combining today, but Todd is out there straight-cutting oats. Hopefully, he can work quite late, but the temperature dropped very fast once the sun went down. I went for a short round with him when I took him his dinner. Jared has had his third piano lesson already, and has picked some lovely pieces this year.

A Full Saturday

Todd is combining peas while Glen is swathing canola. Fred is hauling for Todd and Diana took in some of Sunflower and then who knows what, probably yard work. Kaitlynn took a road trip to Regina with a group of friends. Jared and I stayed home and got some stuff done. Here is Crushy playing peek-a-boo, and if that's not cute, I don't know what is. My orchid is doing a lovely job of blooming. It has more blooms on it then when Todd brought it home as a gift for me. It is so rewarding to have nurtured it back to this state. Now I have to figure out how to repot it and continue to keep it happy When I woke Kaitlynn up yesterday morning for school, I noticed this wonderful new piece of art on her wall. She had done it from start to finish the previous night, and of course I swooned over it. Not only is it a black cat, but it is my little black cat - Sooty! Todd had to run in for parts this morning and so I accompanied him for some time together. I did not g...

Bear and The Garden

Image
These two things together, Bear and my garden(s), give me so much joy. Bear has been slowing down as of late, a trend I hope to see improve when the weather truly cools. But he is over seven years old now, and his poor hips have been a problem his entire life.  That said, when he's out in the garden with me, he often acts like a puppy - rolling and frolicking in the grass, asking for belly rubs. Or, if I'm picking tomatoes, he gets very excited, tomatoes and peas are his two favourite things and you mustn't be picking and not sharing with doggo. It's better he sits and waits for you to hand it to him, or he'll help himself and clean off entire plants. Leaves are just starting to turn and fall. I don't think they would be falling yet if it hadn't been such a dry year, but I just love when there are leaves on the ground, so I'm not complaining. Just as long as Fall takes it's time, and lingers on for 2 or even 3 months. ...
