Late Spring Ruminations

Image
It is the perfect day for blogging a wee bit about the past several days. Yesterday, I got the yard looking it's finest by doing the trimming and mowing. Day before that it rained, and today it rained again, and is threatening more thundershowers this afternoon. And I'm tired. I worked hard yesterday to see the yard completed, but I think the real culprit of my fatigue is the ice cream cone I ate just before bed last night. I never sleep well on a full stomach, let alone a stomach full of sugar. Lesson learned? - Probably not.  With the freshness of the rain and all of the blossoms on the lilacs, caragana and fruit trees, the air outside is intoxicating. You start to take a breath in through your nose, and when you catch the scent, don't want to stop inhaling. One could damn near explode their lungs with the desire. The early morning walks to the pond with Bear are a joy. Life is overflowing there with all of the different birds peeping their little hearts when we get ...

A Full Saturday

Image
Todd is combining peas while Glen is swathing canola. Fred is hauling for Todd and Diana took in some of Sunflower and then who knows what, probably yard work. Kaitlynn took a road trip to Regina with a group of friends. Jared and I stayed home and got some stuff done. Here is Crushy playing peek-a-boo, and if that's not cute, I don't know what is. My orchid is doing a lovely job of blooming. It has more blooms on it then when Todd brought it home as a gift for me. It is so rewarding to have nurtured it back to this state. Now I have to figure out how to repot it and continue to keep it happy When I woke Kaitlynn up yesterday morning for school, I noticed this wonderful new piece of art on her wall. She had done it from start to finish the previous night, and of course I swooned over it. Not only is it a black cat, but it is my little black cat - Sooty! Todd had to run in for parts this morning and so I accompanied him for some time together. I did not g...

Hello September!

Image
At least I'll get one post done on the day it belongs. It has been a beautiful day. Todd and Glen are working on getting the peas off. It will likely be a late night because of the forecast for rain tomorrow. It's not very often you see 100% chance. The yard and the house kept me very busy today and I am sure there won't be much time for daydreaming once my head hits the pillow. I did try to take a break and do some reading, but Sooty figured he needed attention. Jared and I went on a pumpkin hunt this morning after trimming off a bunch of excess vines. We got a few surprises, including maybe the biggest Jack-of-all-trades I've ever grown. It's going to make a beauty of a jack-o' lantern. Kaitlynn worked all day yesterday and all day today, and she is booked to work the stat all day tomorrow which is great for goal of saving money to move out next year. Garden Day

Getting a straight line with the rototiller is impossible for me.  I try my hardest to control that thing, but it has a mind of its own.  I got the rows tilled for the potatoes last night and Todd dug the holes after work.  Jared and I put the taters in this morning. Then we went on to seed the rest of the garden and Jared got the idea of using the roller to pack down the paths.  So we raked out the rocks and Voila! The tidiest little garden you ever did see!

Lloydminster/Cold Lake 2018

Image
There is not one picture from Lloyd here. I barely touched my phone while visiting which I suppose is a good thing, but I wish I had snapped a few photos. These are in no particular order... Re-learning to knit. It's always exciting to see the boats! The Marina beach. Jared spent a lot of time on his scooter on our trip and is now paying for it with a sore foot! Ticket to Ride, Suzanne's favourite. Beantrees Ice cream at the beach. Zip-lining on the beach. Jared was the only brave one. Kaitlynn was chasing these guys all over the beach. The Wednesday Regatta Bibeau Park Huge woodpeckers! Early morning walk. Harvested some broccoli on the day we returned. And a pumpkin! I continue to work on my knitting.
