Late Spring Ruminations

It is the perfect day for blogging a wee bit about the past several days. Yesterday, I got the yard looking it's finest by doing the trimming and mowing. Day before that it rained, and today it rained again, and is threatening more thundershowers this afternoon. And I'm tired. I worked hard yesterday to see the yard completed, but I think the real culprit of my fatigue is the ice cream cone I ate just before bed last night. I never sleep well on a full stomach, let alone a stomach full of sugar. Lesson learned? - Probably not.
With the freshness of the rain and all of the blossoms on the lilacs, caragana and fruit trees, the air outside is intoxicating. You start to take a breath in through your nose, and when you catch the scent, don't want to stop inhaling. One could damn near explode their lungs with the desire.
The early morning walks to the pond with Bear are a joy. Life is overflowing there with all of the different birds peeping their little hearts when we get near. And soon there will be babies. I will have to take binoculars to get a closer look at them.
My gardens are all planted and doing well and I expect to see some major progress over the next several days after these rains.
I've started another knitting project and have really been enjoying watching HomeTown reruns while I plug away at it. I've crocheted plenty of aphgans but this will be my first knitted one. I figured out the pattern from a picture I seen and first made a dishcloth to make sure. I wasn't optimistic that Walmart would have the yarn I wanted, but low and behold, they did. Todd took the time while watching TV to roll each of the oversized skeins into a much more manageable ball. Each one cost him 45 minutes and sore hands. But it's amazing how much time it saves me when I don't have to tug at an awkward blob of yarn on the floor.

The scent of a lilac is a powerful thing. It instantly energizes you, relaxes you and makes life seem like a
reasonable happy thing.

It's not often Bear plunks himself down in the perfect place for a portrait. It's even less often that he
has his tongue in his mouth. So please take the time appreciate this rare moment.

I've always had trouble with Solomon's Seal, but it seems I've finally given it a home to thrive in. What is
it about a white blossom tinged with green that takes me to a magical place?

I know these trees are a pain to keep in the formal yard, but just look at how
beautiful and inviting they are! I love lounging in the shade here throughout the
season watching my garden grow.

It seems I can't get enough of these two. This show comforts me and inspires me unlike any other.
