Forty One

I would liked to have done this post yesterday on the actual date of my birth, but I was far too busy having plenty of fun.  So here I am, during a Tuesday blizzard that has kept everyone comfy at home.  Kids got to sleep in, no buses, and Todd decided that driving would be stupid. I'm sure everyone at the farm is staying indoors as much as possible, so here we are.  Kids are cleaning their rooms, they can't just have a day off in the middle of the week you know! They will have their piano lessons after lunch too, so it will not be a wasted day.

Anyway, back to the task at hand, my birthday.  Todd took me out to coffee in the morning and we enjoyed a nice visit and treats at Sweet Wanderings.

We wandered around the mall for a bit after that and found ourselves some clothes.  Todd is dire need of new jeans, and I need some cute spring tops. Last year's colors were awful, but I am loving the floral prints out this year.
We enjoyed the tuna salad at Brown's for our lunch before checking out the local flower shops.  I ended up getting a beautiful hydrangea stem for free.  I ordered 3 more to be picked up later this week. I can't wait - they are so incredibly beautiful and such a nice change from the standard at Superstore.

We enjoyed another treat at DQ and picked up an ice cream cake before heading over to SHHS to pick up the KK.  We headed home in a blizzard that had really picked up since the morning.

Todd prepared a lovely steak dinner - Yes! He barbequed in that blizzard and he also prepared roasted asparagus, mushrooms and a nice wild rice.

The cake was yummy, of course, but the sparklers were a little frightening.  The spit tiny hot coals here and there and left little burn marks in the tablecloth. Not to mention, all the lovely ash on the top of the cake, and the smell in the house afterward.  I think this little novelty is best left to being enjoyed outdoors and maybe on a chocolate cake. They didn't affect the flavour of the dessert whatsoever.

The kids made lovely cards and chose a couple of cute gifts. I've wanted these socks for awhile, and am now so glad I didn't pick them up myself.  I fully intend to use them, and expect those around me to pay attention when I do, (ahem... Todd).  Todd also gave me a gift certificate for massages which I've been ordered to use strictly for extra relaxation and not as the usual therapy.

I also got to pick out a game and everyone was required to play.  I got my ass handed to me by every, single one of them.  I came in dead last and way far behind.

So there it is, a lovely birthday.  All good things must come to an end, but Thank-you so much to my Mr. Handsome for taking the time to be with me the entire day.  You made me feel so loved.

I just had to include this quote from my daily Star Trek calendar.
