Birbs and Storms

I finally got to see the baby American Avocets. I'll need to take my Canon down there to get a better look. Our presence there is really upsetting to the parents, so I limit how much time we spend there.

While in Regina, we got a slow leak on a tire, so we had to leave it at Kal-Tire. We took a little walk and as gross as this little ravine was, it was nice to see baby duckies.

We had to pick up some food our little Chocolate and while we there, I found treats for Bear. This cute little apple cinnamon cookie was devoured by our 160lb animal in about 2 seconds. The cookie was $3, so maybe not worth it. For something really different, I picked up some fish skin chews. They look disgusting, so I won't include a photo.

Seeing that wee thing in the pond brought out some strong maternal instincts. I wanted to scoop up the wee thing and go put him with his Mommy or Daddy. Turns out, Mommy was just around the corner, so I needn't have worried.

It was a hot, hot day yesterday - 30 degrees, so it was so nice when a storm blew in and cooled us off. We got just under a half inch of rain, so the garden is very happy.

Jared and I took a bit of the stormy afternoon to enjoy a game of crib. He won.

Sunsets are always gorgeous when a storm has just happened and there are all sorts of interesting cloud formations.

I had a lovely walk yesterday morning, but there is nothing like walking during the sunrise after a refreshing rain. I couldn't breathe deeply enough.

Of course, with moisture, out come the amphibians. This little guy was making his way across the road and had disappeared by the time we came back. We didn't see any frogs though.

Bear looked like he had been caught in the rain even though he just went for a romp through the long grass in the ditch.

My peonies are not doing well this year, so I called Diana and asked her if she some to spare. It hasn't been a complete Spring without a bouquet of peonies.
