My Day-To-Day Photos

It is the perfect day for blogging a wee bit about the past several days. Yesterday, I got the yard looking it's finest by doing the trimming and mowing. Day before that it rained, and today it rained again, and is threatening more thundershowers this afternoon. And I'm tired. I worked hard yesterday to see the yard completed, but I think the real culprit of my fatigue is the ice cream cone I ate just before bed last night. I never sleep well on a full stomach, let alone a stomach full of sugar. Lesson learned? - Probably not.  With the freshness of the rain and all of the blossoms on the lilacs, caragana and fruit trees, the air outside is intoxicating. You start to take a breath in through your nose, and when you catch the scent, don't want to stop inhaling. One could damn near explode their lungs with the desire. May has arrived, and it's been nearly a month since I last posted here. Life hasn't been easy lately, but losing nearly an entire month seems unlikely and unreasonable. The weather has been decent lately, and that has me feeling a little better. I especially love my long morning walks with Bear before breakfast. Often, that's when it's the most peaceful outside, low winds, hardly any vehicles making noise on the roads. Quiet. Also, I've been in my greenhouse lately and that is another of solitude for me. I made it even better by adding a little place to have tea. I don't know why I didn't think of that sooner. A few crocuses are up in the garden, along with a gazillion daylilies. I really have to start finding new homes for them. I had my first wood tick yesterday. Disgusting. We've been out enjoying the warm patch of weather before it cools back down again in a couple of days. Bear is especially appreciative of having access to water everywhere we go. Our two temporary ponds have connected enough that I can't walk between them with my everyday winter boots anymore. We don't have much snow, so unless we get some serious rain, the water will disappear quickly.

Kaitlynn had a group of friends over on Friday and it was nice enough for our first fire and wiener roast of the season.  It later turned in to a dance/sing-along party when I gave control of my bluetooth speaker over to Denvyr. They had such a good time. Sunday was our warmest day yet at 24 degrees. Almost too warm actually, as Jared and I headed East then North on our bikes for an afternoon picnic.  It would have been pleasant, but then we started to notice a wood tick here and there and then everywhere!  Ick!!!!!  So, we cut it a little short, and next time we won't sit in the grass. Spring has finally come to the prairies and everyone is over the moon about it after our extra long winter. We soaked up the sun in lawn chairs on our driveway and enjoyed walking around more and more of the yard as the snow melted so fast. The landscape has changed very quickly this year.  Jared and I went out for a bike ride east today.  It was extremely windy from the West, so it was ridiculously easy on our way out and quite pleasant on the south road. Jared figured he could make it across the water that was over the road, but nope. He soaked his feet which were in runners. Oops. The ride back was horrible. We did not have the strength to peddle against the wind. We were nearly home when KK and Dad returned from their drive to pick us up. 

Well, there has been enough nice weather in a row now that I am finally petering out. It feels as though I could sleep an entire day away. But lots of planting has been done, not finished, but a lot is in the ground. June 5th is going to turn into June 28th in the blink of an eye at this rate. By then the weeds should be in full swing and I'll have my two helpers to keep the garden up to snuff. They did an awesome job weeding several places in the yard yesterday, even though it was uncomfortably hot out there. Jared has been asking us everyday if we can check the mail. He is waiting on a fidget spinner, all the rage these days and it is being shipped from Honk Kong, so my little Monkey is having his patience tried. At their last piano lesson, Iris borrowed Kaitlynn the music to both Les Miserables and The Phantom Of The Opera.  She has several songs she would like to learn over the summer. Yesterday she told me that she only played one note before starting to cry though, so ...

It's nearly 8am and Todd and the kids are still in bed. Jared's excuse is that he's sick.  Kaitlynn is a teenager and I don't know how late she stayed up. I'm not sure of Todd's reason, but I'm sure it's not a good one.  I would have been up and about at 6, but stayed in bed reading, (by reading, I mean looking at funny stuff on Pinterest) out of respect for the household. I think that 7am is a reasonable time to wake the dead, and I do not creep around, yet here we are.   Jared has a fever of 102, so I'm thinking we'll take him to the walk-in clinic later.  He has a badminton tournament on Wednesday that he really doesn't want to miss, and Open Lit is on Thursday.  I also have concerns with the way his teeth are growing in, and so he has a dentist appointment Tuesday morning.  Oy - that's a busy week.   The weather sure did take a change overnight.  It dropped to minus 7, minus 13 with the chill factor.  Yuck, but we shoul...

On Monday, April 3rd, my little Svester turned 38.  She didn't want to spend her day alone, so we met up in Yorkton for a bit of shopping and some lunch.  We had a ridiculous amount of fun looking at all the cute things out for Spring. I bought her these garden stakes of the pig and cow.  She adores them.       I bought her the mouse, she bought herself the wee owl.       She bought me the turtle, Cruiser is his name.       It was a gorgeous day, she needed to head home to spend some time on the deck with her puppies and I needed to go make these...chichens on a branch.  I made 4 and I love them.       I also enjoyed the outdoors a bit, I set up the fire pit area and saw my first butterfly.  It really was the perfect day.
