Dreary Day

It's nearly 8am and Todd and the kids are still in bed. Jared's excuse is that he's sick.  Kaitlynn is a teenager and I don't know how late she stayed up. I'm not sure of Todd's reason, but I'm sure it's not a good one.  I would have been up and about at 6, but stayed in bed reading, (by reading, I mean looking at funny stuff on Pinterest) out of respect for the household. I think that 7am is a reasonable time to wake the dead, and I do not creep around, yet here we are.

Jared has a fever of 102, so I'm thinking we'll take him to the walk-in clinic later.  He has a badminton tournament on Wednesday that he really doesn't want to miss, and Open Lit is on Thursday.  I also have concerns with the way his teeth are growing in, and so he has a dentist appointment Tuesday morning.  Oy - that's a busy week.

The weather sure did take a change overnight.  It dropped to minus 7, minus 13 with the chill factor.  Yuck, but we should have expected that.  I did, but hoped for better.

With the less welcoming weather, I will be more encouraged to get Brenda's flower arrangements done. With Jared's scrapbook all done, that's the last thing on my list before I get into the real Spring work. It would be nice to have them done by the Easter break, then maybe she will take and store them in her house.

I started sage, dusty miller and petunias on the 3rd, and the latter two are up, so the lights are on and I'm in the growing season!!! I plan to fill this yard that we are staycationing on this summer with more flowers than you can shake a stick at. I cannot wait until things start to green up out there and we have some color.  It is dreadfully brown out there and depressing.

Todd and I have been discussing ideas for around the yard.  One is putting up a fence on the south side of our fire pit area.  It will run East and West and provide shelter from the wind as well as privacy. We also want to build a little shed/shelter for items we would like to store out there for the season.

We have been thinking about a gazebo for quite a few years now.  I hope we can get it built this summer along with the stairs off the upper deck down through the garden and leading up to it.
