Cold Lake - The Perfect Wind-down.

We had planned on staying somewhere along Slave Lake on our way before stopping in Cold Lake, but the weather was promising torrential downpours and not wanting to deal with that, we headed to Whitecourt and stayed in a cozy hotel. After getting all cleaned up there, we got to Cold Lake in the middle of the afternoon and proceeded to have a very relaxed visit with Suzanne and Etienne. We ordered pizza the first night and played "Ticket To Ride." I had the best sleep of our entire journey that first night. The second night, Etienne fried up fish and cooked potatoes for us on the BBQ. Before that, we had a relaxing day ending up at Clark's on the lake for ice-cream.

Suzanne put major smiles on both the kids' faces when she decided to a little housecleaning. Kaitlynn inherited a big collection of Stephen King novels and Jared received an NES and N64 - vintage gold! Both kiddos were (and still are) extremely grateful and pleased with their gifts. Jared got the NES working shortly after we got home and I've been enjoying revisiting my childhood with Super Mario.
