Birds and Blooms

Tragedy has struck out yard. The blackbird nest by the fence post was robbed of its eggs. The other three nests hatched successfully, but one was later completely destroyed with no sign of a baby left alive. The nest in the globe cedar had four, but is down to three chicks. The only nest that can so far boast complete success is the one  on the fence post by the greenhouse. There are five hungry little things in there chirping away.

The other tragedy is the lack of rain. We got a lot the other night compared to everywhere else and it is nowhere near enough. Hopefully things straighten out soon. But there is still plenty of beauty to enjoy all around.

Look closely, see the beaks?
