Popout

Image
I've been playing with the new phone, getting to know it better especially where the camera is concerned. I've got the manual mode down, so now to play with the novelty features. "Popout" is kind of fun.  I think it will work very nicely in the flower patch and when the trees have leafed out.  Taking a portrait in a landscape might work nicely as well.  I'll have to see if I can find a willing model later.   I've slowly been bringing Spring into our house over the past month, but yesterday I went all out.  I even felt the need to redress the couch.  That warm 15 degree weather sure lifted my spirits in the afternoon, and now our home reflects the upcoming change of season.   Some people feel it is a waste of time to play around with décor based on the season. But I find it uplifting, a spiritual practice that celebrates what life has to offer.

It's getting nicer outside, so this will be a much more common sight!

Forty Three

To be Captain Obvious, I'm getting to this post quite a bit later than I hoped, but here it is and better never than late, no, better late than some far off ridiculous point in the future like once Todd turns 44.  It's only been a little over a week since his special day, but somehow it feels like an eternity. The day also didn't go as planned as he ended up hauling grain, but I tried to make up for that a bit by making him two, yes two special dinners.  I know, I know - awesome wife. One the night before, where we had roast pork and crème brulee for dessert.  On the 15th, there was cake for dessert, but the main course was classic chicken fettuccine alfredo and focaccia bread.  That bread was so flavourful it flavoured the entire house!  The alfredo was so rich, that when it cooled it became an oddly shaped block of butter. I needed a chisel to get it off the plate.  But it was good.  Very good. I'll let the photos tell the rest of the story...

Forty One

I would liked to have done this post yesterday on the actual date of my birth, but I was far too busy having plenty of fun.  So here I am, during a Tuesday blizzard that has kept everyone comfy at home.  Kids got to sleep in, no buses, and Todd decided that driving would be stupid. I'm sure everyone at the farm is staying indoors as much as possible, so here we are.  Kids are cleaning their rooms, they can't just have a day off in the middle of the week you know! They will have their piano lessons after lunch too, so it will not be a wasted day.       Anyway, back to the task at hand, my birthday.  Todd took me out to coffee in the morning and we enjoyed a nice visit and treats at Sweet Wanderings.     We wandered around the mall for a bit after that and found ourselves some clothes.  Todd is dire need of new jeans, and I need some cute spring tops. Last year's colors were awful, but I am loving the floral prints out this year. We enjoyed the tuna salad

Early Birthdays

Invited to the farm for dinner on Saturday, March 4th, Todd and I were under the impression that it was a birthday get-together for my 41st.  It turned out to be for both of us, as Fred and Diana are leaving for Mexico on the 13th and will not be here for Todd's 43rd on the 15th.  It was nice, as always and we ate too much, as usual.  Kaitlynn had a nice, long visit with Boots who I could have sworn was a lady kitty, but turned out I was way off.  Now everyone can't stop calling her "she."  Charlie is still a beautiful cat, but his age has suddenly caught up with him.
