Spring Scenes

Image
Spring has finally come to the prairies and everyone is over the moon about it after our extra long winter. We soaked up the sun in lawn chairs on our driveway and enjoyed walking around more and more of the yard as the snow melted so fast. The landscape has changed very quickly this year.  Jared and I went out for a bike ride east today.  It was extremely windy from the West, so it was ridiculously easy on our way out and quite pleasant on the south road. Jared figured he could make it across the water that was over the road, but nope. He soaked his feet which were in runners. Oops. The ride back was horrible. We did not have the strength to peddle against the wind. We were nearly home when KK and Dad returned from their drive to pick us up.

While waiting in the SHHS parking lot, I noticed this cute gas tank sticker.  Perfect! Especially for a car that probably belongs to a student. At Garnet Hansen's auction sale, Glen bought a newish combine and a set of harrows. They trust that winter will eventually end.

Hairdos

Image
Kaitlynn had her mind made up her hairstyle a good while before the appointment while Jared didn't have a clue.  They both came out happy in the end though.  Although, I'm pretty sure Jared will be happier long term because his cut low maintenance while KK's is going to a little more difficult to maintain.  We shall see.

Little Shake Up

It's funny how we get used to certain, everyday things, and if there is even the slightest change, it stops us for a moment, I suppose so we can wrap our minds around what we just seen. In this instance, Jared sat somewhere other than his usual chair to have his cereal, and I just had to stop and ask why he would do such a thing, as though it's the craziest thing in world. It was because he didn't want to disturb his kitty, Georgia...of course. But she left shortly after he sat down, so his discomfort was all for nothing.

Creative Kaitlynn

Yet another piece of artwork in progress that I am over the top in love with. There are so many fun details in this drawing, some that make me clench my teeth and squee.

Happy Easter Fools

Image
All the note said was "Happy Easter!  There are 28 items to be found." I told the kids that the whole house minus the garage and boiler room was fair game. Off they went and after only a couple of minutes were telling me that I had pranked them and there were no treats to be found. They were giving up so easily! No hints came from me however, and within 15 minutes KK headed to our bedroom and that's when the fun began. If there had been a prize, she would have won.  It took them just over another 15 minutes to find all the treats and some of them were in very tricky places.  So it was a short hunt.   The next day, Jared was tidying up his room and not only did he put his candy into a little kit, he colour coordinated them all.

KK Hits the Highway

Image
She got her learners just a little while ago, but today is the milestone moment for Kaitlynn. She's driving us to Yorkton for ice cream! This is her first time really trying out highway driving and as I sit in the back seat with Jared, I'm feeling confident in my daughter as she adds yet another life skill to her to her ever growing list.  This is not an awesome photo, I know.  It's like I said, I was in the backseat and I didn't want to distract her.
