Happy 15!

Image
Learner's permit age already. Oy. Dad and I busted into your room early so that he could watch you open your gifts. He had to put in a full day's work. So we decided it was okay to wake you up, and drop all of your gifts onto your bed. There are worse ways to wake up. You spent the day on the computer, gaming like crazy. I made pizza in the afternoon and we watched "Ponyo" to continue our Studio Ghibli marathon. It was a great day. Loretta stopped by in the afternoon with gifts from everyone on that side too, so you got a little spoiled. That's what birthdays are for.

A Good Day

Image
After the rain last night, Todd was able to take the morning off and come to Yorkton with Jared and I. Jared picked out new frames for his new prescription and we had lunch at A&W.  Towards evening, Kaitlynn called to tell me about a trip she took to Value village and the finds she took home. The big news was a sweater she bought that was torn along the seam. " But, I was able to sew it because I had a Mom that showed me how to sew. So thank you for that." That was a nice moment, and the sort of thing that really brightens things up within me. So, thank you Sweetie, for sharing that with me. God, I'm really starting to miss my girl though. I'll be jumping into the car the moment harvest is wrapped up. At least that is my hope.  The pepper seeds she got me are finally resulting in some produce. And I got this brainwave while watching Home Town to hang up more of her art with mini clothes pins. Worked great! The pictures of the pets are for her as well. To keep her

Fall Beginnings

Image
There's been quite a lot going on around here lately. Jared has been picking up new music. He fixed his Nintendo NES and yes, there was a dried up worm in it. He's started cleaning off the garden and mowed the lawn today.  Kaitlynn finally heard from Princess Auto today, she starts on September 2nd. Harvest is in full swing and Oy, time is just flying by.  I drew a face on Todd's toe, then Jared dressed up one of my toes. Goofy moments are fun. Soots didn't know what to do when he got wrapped up like sushi, so he did nothing. Jared and I have decided to watch Studio Ghibli movies, and we started with Totoro and then Princess Monoke. Next up is Ponyo.

Baking and Art

Image
Baking really is an art. Art you can see, taste, smell, feel. The best kind of art really. Anyway, Kaitlynn left several of her works behind, and I've gotten around to framing some. I be also been dabbling a but myself to keep occupied.

Kitties

I don't know when the cats started preferring my bed for their naps, and I don't know why I started to allow it, but here they are. They are just way to comfy. I got my first, (hopefully of many) pictures of Kaitlynn's artwork this morning, which was a wonderful thing to wake up to.

The Big Clean

Image
I've been waiting to get into Kaitlynn's room for years to do a thorough cleaning.  Yesterday, I did just that and did a little redecorating.  The day before, we had our little, yearly airshow. The bright yellow plane looked striking against the bright blue skies.  Sooty loves to sit on the table when I'm sitting there.

Home and New Chairs

Image
The ride home from Edmonton seemed quite short. We had plenty of time to unpack, get organized and we even watched a movie. It was an "edge of your seat" non-stop craziness movie. Train to Busan was Jared's pick and we all enjoyed it. It was so sad though. Todd and Jared set up the new chairs and they look fantastic. I'm loving the muted earth tones. Bear was very happy to see us, and my walk with him this morning was more affectionate than usual.
