March's End

Image
It is our goal to get KK her license before school's out for summer, so she's been driving  a lot more and we'll be making extra trips in so she can practice. She's already showing a lot more confidence and improvement. Kaitlynn went on her first mini road trip with Maddie today. They went toto Regi and had a fabulous time. A side trip to LaBrett was the highlight though.  There they visited an antique shop and spontaneously climbed a weird hill of some sort. It had 12 crosses on it and the name of the town. Todd, Jared and I worked on the flooring in the master bedroom. Mostly Todd did the flooring, and we helped with take apart and put back together. We picked everything into Kaitlynn's room and had it all back in place before she got home. We were very impressed with our cones from DQ yesterday, and sent kudos to the artiste.  At last, I am still loving all of the things I can do with the Cameo and Jared's scrapbook is coming along nicely.

Those Eyes

Image
Todd's follow-up appointment was not awesome today. His Dr. doesn't understand why his eye is doing what it is doing or what to do next about it next. For treatment today, it was a deeper injection of steroids and then another follow-up appointment in six weeks. So that will put us into the beginning of May. In the meantime Todd plans to clean up his diet in order to give his body the best possible chance to heal.  Fingers crossed that this will clear up and those eyes I love so much will go on doing a good job for many years yet to come.

Homework Blues

Uncertain if she has a test on Monday, KK has a lot of "just in case" physics to do. Dad stayed up until midnight with her and got most of it done. The rest will have to wait until Sunday when she gets back from Madison's.

A Strange Surprise

Image
KK decided to become serious about amassing a bone collection. She made posters to put up around town, but before she could get around to that, our neighbor Bob came by the Co-op. She asked him about acquiring some skeletal remains and got far more than she bargained for. Shortly before noon today, he came by with a fresh kill of 4 pigeons! He told us that they are excellent eating, and I told KK we would throw them in the freezer and she could take care of them as soon as she has some spare time.  She went back to work and thinking it would be best if they were done fresh and that I really didn't want to waste Bob's gift, I decided to take on the job myself. I'm quite proud of how I handled the messy situation and tomorrow I will cook them (when KK is home) to find out how they taste. The carcasses will wait in freezer for Kaitlynn to figure out how best to preserve the skeletons.

Upgrades

Image
The floors are in the process of being upgraded and the trim, today the windows. Just look at the difference a little more decorative trim can make! The weather has also received a recent upgrade. The temperatures have been so enjoyable and the landscape is changing daily.

In The Middle

On the 13th, Todd wrapped up the flooring and even got some trim down in the living room, kitchen and dining area, so the house will be livable while he heals up from the wee operation. That day, the 14th didn't go as planned.  I dropped him off at the hospital just after 11, and he didn't get to leave until about 5pm.  Oh well, it is done except for the healing part, which he is taking seriously.  I really wasn't too concerned about him overdoing it though as it is not that difficult to convince Todd to stay on the couch (sorry Honey). I do imagine some boredom is setting in by now though.  The snow is melting quickly out there, and this week we are supposed to see temperatures in the mid-teens, so the change ought to be dramatic.  While out for a walk this morning, Bear noticed this big, muddy snowpile our neighbor made alongside the road, and he felt the need to protect me from this monster.  It took a bit of convincing to get him to stop growling, that everything w

First Album Complete

I finished Kaitlynn's scrapbook today, and not only did I really enjoy working on it, I really like how it turned out.

Coming Along

Todd wasn't kidding when he said the flooring was going to go down quickly once the linoleum was torn out. We're both loving how it looks too and are certain we made the right choice.

Scraps

Jared brought Soots into my bedroom this morning while I was making the bed, and naturally they both started goofing off making it impossible to get the task done.  The fun ended when Soots decided that the lace trim on the duvet cover would be fun to hook his nails in and pull. I'm nearing the end of Kaitlynn's scrapbook and having a lot of fun with the new Silhouette machine. My style has stayed much the same - simple, with the focus being on the photos, but now I can easily create the looks I want and have an endless supply of fonts to keep things both suitable and interesting.

Freedom!

I took Bear into the greenhouse and got a good look at his ear.  Everything is healed over very nicely and so off came the cone.  Best cone ever, by the way.  I'm so glad we invested in the Comfy Cone for him.  I know it made life much more bearable (get it?) this past couple of weeks. The drifts are big in places. Bear likes to play king of the mountain.  It' a great look-out point from up there. Todd is still plugging away at the island and getting out the bits of linoleum/subfloor out.  He feels confident that we'll start laying the flooring tomorrow.

March Sixth - Forty Three

Image
Having lunch at Brown's and it was worth mentioning that it was my birthday.  The waitress insisted we enjoy this Oreo In A Jar on the house. I found myself a couple of flannels at Bluenotes. I got flowers... and more flowers. Some Easter décor from Lynn. Chicken Cordon Bleu for dinner. CDs and candies. Oh Jared, how you make me laugh. Homemade cards. I found some light reading for the upcoming Spring. Todd forgot the cake, but him and KK baked one, and I'm so glad...way tastier. And a game with the fam!
