Little Moments

Image
Well, I haven't been my best. But I am able to do little things like bake a pie and cookies. I can go for light walks and once in a very rare while, I get a special surprise. It's all about the little wins.

The Joy of Pets

There's really nothing to say. The only thing better than looking at pictures of animals is actually spending time with them.

That Art Though

Kaitlynn surprised me this week with a drawing she did of a dragon. She used to draw a lot them. Not only has she not forgotten how, it may be her best one yet. Gorgeous.

A Full Day

Image
While Shannon and Kaylee were harvesting what was left of the pumpkins and gourds, I dug half a row of potatoes.  As it turns out, there were a lot of pumpkins and gourds, and they took home a truckload! Jared made himself a lovely lunch and Sooty often makes himself comfy on the hood of the car when it's warm.  Bear was in the house when Mr. Fox stopped by for a snack. I wonder if this is the same fella that took a dump on my swing?

Grade Ten

Image
It's been six months since Jared has been to school. I'm amazed I remembered not only to wake up on time, but also make him a lunch. Classes are arranged in Blocks, five of them for a total of ten classes. His first block is Drama and Wellness, so a pretty slack start. He's only had four days this week, but he's so bloody happy that it's Friday.

Living Her Life

Image
We told Kaitlynn it would be wise to not spend her on frivolous things like piercings and tattoos for two reasons. The first being that she needs to be careful with her money and the second that she ought to get to know herself a little better, and make sure she knows what she wants. She listened to the first piece of advice and spent next to nothing on a nose bridge piercing. With a safety pin, she did it herself and there it is.  She's also done some great art pieces.

Perfection

Image
I had things to do today, and I usually don't allow myself to enjoy anything until those things are taken care of. But the weather was far too demanding in its perfection and I couldn't resist. I've been short of campfires and roasted weiners this summer, so I fulfilled some of that desire this afternoon when I stepped outside and realized that you just don't waste a day like this one.  And even though I took that time, I still got everything else done, and then some. I needed to break my own rules.

Mr. Hardworking

Image
Harvest is nearing its halfway point. Mr. Handsome had two of his meals in the field today, one of which Jared and I delivered.  Jared and I held down the fort. I did the usual housework and we dug out all the onions and set them to drying. We also dug up more potatoes for the food bank. I picked a few gourds while Jared mowed the parts that needed it. I even got a few masks sewn to get Jared started at school. It was a productive day. Kaitlynn worked her third shift in a row today and is watching a movie with her friends tonight. Everyone is doing their part, and so our family functions easily. We all contribute, but at this time of year, it's Daddy O that's working the long hours to get the bacon on the table and we couldn't be more grateful. That's why we bought him bologna, nothing but the best for Mr. Hardworking. Love you Mr. Man.

I Don't Know

Kaitlynn's official first day of work was today. The photos are from yesterday, her orientation. So far, so good. Hopefully it keeps her entertained and interested. Jared and I went into Yorkton this morning to pick up his glasses and go out for breakfast. I really needed me some pork sausages. They were great. Then it was off to the mall where we found some wonderful Beanie Babies for Kaitlynn. I have a parcel ready to go.

The Way To Spend A Rainy Day

Image
Todd did get to the farm for a bit of clean up and maintenance before the heavy rain came along. Back just after noon, him and I dragged Jared out of the house against his will for bacon samiches at Sweet Wanders. God, how I love that bacon. I actually had a bad dream about them running out of their special bacon, and it was seriously upsetting. We enjoyed a game in the evening after a relaxing afternoon and finished off Jared's birthday cake.  We got a lot of rain today, so I don't imagine that tomorrow will be much busier. 9
