More Tangling - Not in the Book

Image
I did the colourful one today and the other three yesterday. I was on the quite the roll. I got the ideas off Pinterest - took a glance and tried my hand - so as not be a total copycat. I like to do these while listening to an audio book. Yesterday, I listened to 'Breakfast at Tiffany's" and today I started a new one by Kristen Hannah - "Winter Garden." It's an older book, her most recent being "The Great Alone," which I loved. I also want to read "The Nightingale" by her, which has unusually good reviews.

A Productive Weekend

Todd added some much needed shelving to each of our closets, so now my sweaters are organized and a lot easier to chose from! Jared had his Canadian composers recital this past Saturday with Wes Froese from Saskatoon. Jared played Nocturne by Clifford Poole. I love hearing this song every time. I made a ting. a mousy ting. It's going to Booboo's house.

I Like The Pretty Lights

It didn't feel much like winter out there today, which is exactly why the big job of decking out the house with lights got finished today. The wind stayed down (and so did I) while Todd scampered around the roof like a (large, kinda awkward) mountain goat. I enjoyed some time out with my camera - it's nice when you can have bare hands to operate the thing. Now all we need is some light fluffy snow and a bit of frost to compliment his work. I was lucky enough to capture his good side.

The First Step

Having a dream is an admirable thing, pursuing it is an exceptional situation. The opportunity to design a tattoo for a commission came while working the daycare table at the Theodore craft fair. Funny enough, the other girl's name is Kaitlynn too, although I seriously doubt that's how she spells it. Communicating via the ever useful text message, the girls worked out what Caitlin (preferred spelling Todd!) was envisioning for her next bit of ink. And it's really something!!! Todd finally got to Kaitlynn's 'Exit' sign that she picked up many moons ago from VV. She loves it, and I'm sure its already long life has been expanded by many more years.

Tangling Again

Some time ago, Kaitlynn decided to clean out her room. Lots of stuff was going to Good Will.  I decided to grab the zentangle workbook that was in the pile, and now that winter has settled in for good, I have time to play around. I've tangled before, but never with step-by-step instruction. I have to say I'm glad I gave it a try. Here are some of the more interesting ones.

A Change of Scenery

While Todd and Jared worked on getting the snow cleared off from around the rings, I took Bear for a nice long walk. He was very interested in the new surroundings and was eager to walk me! I was concerned we might see a moose, but all we seen was a squirrel, a wood pecker and a lunatic robin. Yes, a robin, and yes, I'm sure. He was a rebel, breaking off from the crowd and going his own way. I hope he survives.  The sky really was that blue today!

November First

It's hard to wrap my mind around the fact that the next thing we celebrate around here will be Kaitlynn's 17th birthday. The grad meeting we had this past week has really made this Grade 12 thing sink in.   Now I'm finding myself listening to meditation book after meditation book in order to cope with these feelings. Fear, sadness, a bit of anger - all have me just a bit on edge. There is no escaping it, so I'm trying to deal with it in the best way I know how - breathing. That's all there really is to it. Just remembering to breath and allowing that sensation to take over my thoughts, so as not to let the worry build up in my busy mind. Halloween was nice, we carved 21 jack o' lanterns.  That doesn't seem like much, but because they were all fairly large, it made for a good display.  We had four families visit us, Ferguson's, Vogels, Rusnaks and the Quintons for a total of 9 kids.  Todd did me the HUGE favour of cleaning all the pumpkins up, not ju
