End of an Era

Image
The last day of school has come and gone, and with that comes the last time I will see my sister drive the school bus onto my yard to pick up my kiddo. That's sad. Sad spelled backwards is das, and das not good. Sniffs.

Stealing the Show

Image
Jared received several awards this year which wrapped up his time in St. Theodore very nicely.

Catnip Caper

Image
We received a free bag of catnip with our last purchase of cat food. I put it in the pantry by the kitty treats, not thinking twice about it.  We were watching a movie, and the pantry door was left open. We came upstairs after the show to find the cats literally rolling in the drug of their choice. Crush and Georgia were strongly affected by it, and although Sooty was covered in it, he didn't act any differently. Crush was a mess. He couldn't climb stairs and could barely walk, but worse was his breathing. He had clearly over exerted himself and we were worried. We cleaned up and it didn't take much time before things were back to normal. Thank goodness. Little trouble makers. What colour is the sky?

Dressed to Grill

Image
I worked on scale today, and when I do that, everything else falls to the wayside. So irregardless of the bad weather, Todd is grilling hotdogs and smokies. Thanks honey. And what color are my pants?

Meh Cake

I really am out of practice and I definitely should have planned better, but here it is and it goes as it is.

Honour Roll

Image
Spent the better part of yesterday afternoon at the Sacred Heart Awards Ceremony. Kaitlynn made the honour roll again, and even though she hated it, she managed to carry herself onstage to receive her certificate. It is often difficult to convince the kids that they should always bring their best effort into everything they do. It is impossible to give them the future perspective of a job well done. But if we could, they would see that hard work now will help them accomplish whatever they want in the future.

Happy Father's Day

Image
The day would have been more enjoyable if the star of the show hadn't come down with hives. Benadryl made him sleepy, so the napping was at least mostly against his will. We figured out that it was most likely his recent dose of antibiotics that caused the breakout and today they seem to completely gone.  I started off the day by making a classic eggs and bacon breakfast. Jared made a cake with a little help and we rounded out the day with Daddy's choice of movie, "Solo" while KK honoured him with a foot rub.

Funny Puppy

Bear went rolling around in the field that is our front yard, and which is currently full of dandelions gone to seed.

Mini Road Trip

Image
We invited Todd to come with us, but he has been missing home being at the farm steadily for the past month. KK had to work the entire day, so it was just myself and the boy. We munched on some breakfast at Tim's in Yorkton, got a couple of drinks to go and headed West for a very roundabout trip home. It was drizzly and heavily overcast, but the countryside hasn't looked this vibrant since last summer. We enjoyed the slightly varied scenery from our everyday roads, and we didn't get lost. I also got a few photos of old buildings and some wildlife that I have yet to process.

Rain Day!

Image
Bear walked into the house when a loud crack of thunder sounded over the house, and then he made himself very comfortable in the kitchen. I told the kids to go play in the rain. That was after the thunderstorm had passed, and they had a fun time before they came in to warm up and rinse off in the shower.

Great Timing

Image
As I write this, I'm lying in bed and listening to the sweetest sound. It's finally raining. We're over half an inch and it's not expected to quit anytime soon. The garden is all in and I can't wait to see it's progress over the the next couple of weeks.

Exam Day Relief Day

Image
Jared was pretty nervous today before his exam at 3pm. He visited the piano three times before we left for Yorkton, all on his own. He wasn't supposed to practice today, but couldn't help himself. In the end, he said it went well minus a couple of moments. He claims to have bombed his sight reading, but otherwise feels pretty good. We gave him his choice of treat which was a medium soft serve dipped cone from Scoops. Can you imagine a large?! Todd really is too big for the Cruz.

Sunday Funday Written on a Monday

Image
Jared helped me clean up the corner of the flower bed that's being overtaken by hops and sem false spirea. We were able to reward him later on with a pretty treat from Tim's. Cats are just cute.
