A Mom Moment

Image
I sat in the library tonight for 45 minutes watching Jared write music. Above the piano are two  framed pieces of Tucker's art. Feeling proud.

Eighty

Image
It has been a very long time since I have felt the desire to make a cake. In fact, I have thought many times that I would never do it again. Yet, here we are. Actually,  I would like to do another one.

Lego Bonding

Image
Jared had the day off on Monday.  On the day before that, Sunday, he showed me a new Lego set that came into Canadian Tire. A grouping of the cutest, little plants. He wanted them and I knew then and there I was going to buy them for him. The next day,  we did our walk to the mall. It was a gorgeous day. As we were walking through the park, I was struck with an intense sense of loss. This beautiful son of mine, is leaving home. Soon, both of my children will be in Edmonton.  My only sense of comfort is in knowing they will be together. I miss Tucker all the time, but having Jared dulls those feelings a bit. When they are both gone...I just don't know.  But, back to the Lego story. We got to Canadian Tire. I was testing Jared when I told him I would pay half. He was ready do it. He really wanted this set. I bought it for him. The gratitude and love that I got back from that kid was very fulfilling.  We then toured the rest of the mall for a bit and then we went home,  where we buil

A Beautiful Day

Image
It was a real challenge to get Dusty into his harness.  He's forgotten how to use it, and he outgrew it. I had to make adjustments. But now that he's in it, he's enjoying himself.

Truck Rides

Image
I was feeling low, so I headed out to the elevator to ride with Todd.  Somehow,  we missed each other while the truck was still inside,  and he drove off without me. I caught him in the parking lot, though.  Most of the snow has melted. The countryside is in a dreary state, but it's exciting to know that the green is coming soon. I expected to see more water standing and running in the ditches, but it's already gone.

Hauling Days

Image
Last week, oats were going to be hauled. But, due to a very muddy yard at Jenson's, the truck got stuck, and the oats are still at home. This week,  they called for canola, so Todd headed out very early and will be hauling the entire day, and probably tomorrow as well.  He's making good time today, with three loads in before 9:30.

Cat Day

Image
I miss Tucker. I haven't spoken to him in weeks. I should call, but he's just so busy with school. Finals are next week. I received a couple of photos of his final design project last night. though.

Firefly

Image
Jared had a real hankering for a game of Firefly.  He beat in getting the the first goal, but I won in the end. It's such a fun game.

Spring is Springing

Image
The crows and geese have been back for a while,  but know the smaller birds are returning as well. On yesterday's walk, I spotted a couple of robins. Also, we had the traditional Easter brunch at the farm on March 31st.

Mr. Handsome

Image
Whe Fred got a bad nosebleed on the day of Todd's birthday party, we moved the dinner to the farm. They put up a few slap-dash decorations and part of it was this 8 by 10 print of Todd's face. It gave the feeling that we were at his memorial rather than his birthday party. But, it is a very nice photo of my very handsome man.  Love you Honey.

Pretty Girl

Image
Georgia Winifred, you are a pretty kitty.

Innocent Victim

Image
I dabbed a wee bit of Cheez Whiz on Todd's nose this morning  while making breakfast.  That turned into a wrestling match, which he then, of course, won. He really worked hard at getting me back, but gave up when the orange goop went flying off the spatula and onto my sweet, innocent plant. Now, the poor thing will need a bath. I was laughing so hard tears were falling. I chose immaturity today, and have zero regrets.

Sweet Kitties

Image
Jared is Georgia's favourite.  She just loves being picked up by him and nuzzling into his hair. Dusty shows up when it's bed making time and loves hiding under the blankets.

Life Lesson

Image
Do not immerse a steamer basket that has the lid on and is  full of hot eggs directly into cold water. The eggs will explode. I ost 4 out of 7 eggs.

Fifty

Image
I'm four days late posting this one, but we did celebrate Todd's 50th. Twice, in fact. On the 15th, Jared and I spent the day with him. The old man wanted burgers, so I took care of everything but the meat. We played MTG and gave him a few gifts. The next day, his family was supposed to come over for a meal, but poor Fred woke up early with a bad nose bleed and couldn't go anywhere.  So, we picked up Chinese food, I made a lemon trifle and off we went.

 Another year older.

Cooking

Image
The day before yesterday,  I had roasted a chicken that didn't quite seem fully cooked. So, I threw it inn a pot, made bone broth, and then used the broth and meat to make a chicken pot pie. It turned out to be quite tasty. I have enough ingredients to make another one, so I'll do that this afternoon.

Tucker and Mads

Image
Mads' surgery went well. The night before we went out for dinner at Red Lobster. We had to feed Mads well before his fast.  The kids realized that the clothes Mads had for his Webkinz fit the cats. So, that was fun. Probably not so fun for the cats, but they didn't seem to mind too much. We got a couple of Magic games in and I just had to laugh at the way Tucker wrote out the recipe for my baked chicken breasts. Also, he cooked us a yummy meal of rice and chicken quesadillas.  He made a huge mess,  but the food was excellent. I was impressed.

Fish Creek

Image
Fish Creek is a beautiful, well treed park in Calgary.  Laura and I went for a walk on Sunday there morning and spent about 3 hours meandering around.  This cake was from an Italian bakery and was one of the best things I've ever tasted.  I had three pieces myself.  Mark had a box set of Escape Rooms. We did all 4 of them. We won the first three, but the last one was missing parts, so - garbage. It was a good way to pass the afternoons. Kiera kept mostly to himself, but Foster gave his love freely. I have fallen in love with him.  So did Todd.
