Holiday Week

Image
Well, with the exception of my poor Mr. Handsome getting a cold, we've had a good holiday week.  I can't say I'm ready for it to end, but now it is just a short and busy 2 months until summer and won't it be nice to be there?   I went downstairs to say good morning, and Crush joined me.  He loves to sit up in the window, and this is where he chose.  A real, "if it fits, I sits" moment.       Here's KK in her new fabulous jean jacket. She loves the feeling of having the collar flipped up.  It both looks and feels fabulous. Oh, and she's researching colleges here, daydreaming about her not to distant future.       There was hardly any wind, although that didn't stop this crew from losing a rocket in the Thompson's yard. We've since bought new rockets and engines. This one went so high, we lost sight of it for several moments. We've been playing Alien Frontiers for a long time now, and we just noticed we'

Catch-Up

It's Wednesday, but it feels like a Sunday.  We're smack-dab in the middle of Easter break and we are having a very nice little staycation.  The weather was gorgeous yesterday and I took KK into town to buy shoes and a new jacket for Spring. We found her a great denim that will be the home for her new interest in pins. That collection started when we were at the farm and Grandma pulled out an old suitcase of her Mom's stuff that she wanted us to chose items from.  Jared took a leaf plate, Todd a butterfly jewelry box, (which is really more mine) and KK took some coins and a few pins.   Anyway, before we left Yorkton, we picked up Sophie and the girls enjoyed a fantastic afternoon outside.  The weather was so mild, barely any wind and being in a t-shirt was quite comfortable. After spending some time on the roof, they took a long walk East.  When they got back, we cancelled our indoor dinner plans and replaced them with roasted smokes around the fire. The girls had plan

An Evening Walk

There are 4 shadows.  One is the dog.  Someone is missing.  Or should I say, we have one extra?  Or maybe two extra, as I am usually by myself on these strolls.  It is so nice to have the light after dinner now. And also, I caught a cute picture of Sooty squeaking at the robins on the lawn.

Dreary Day

It's nearly 8am and Todd and the kids are still in bed. Jared's excuse is that he's sick.  Kaitlynn is a teenager and I don't know how late she stayed up. I'm not sure of Todd's reason, but I'm sure it's not a good one.  I would have been up and about at 6, but stayed in bed reading, (by reading, I mean looking at funny stuff on Pinterest) out of respect for the household. I think that 7am is a reasonable time to wake the dead, and I do not creep around, yet here we are.   Jared has a fever of 102, so I'm thinking we'll take him to the walk-in clinic later.  He has a badminton tournament on Wednesday that he really doesn't want to miss, and Open Lit is on Thursday.  I also have concerns with the way his teeth are growing in, and so he has a dentist appointment Tuesday morning.  Oy - that's a busy week.   The weather sure did take a change overnight.  It dropped to minus 7, minus 13 with the chill factor.  Yuck, but we should have

First Fire

Image
Well, The Weather Network delivered.  We had a gorgeous day yesterday.  Twenty degrees in the afternoon, a calm evening and enough wood.  Barely enough, but we scraped by. We will definitely need to do some yard clean-up before we can have another fire. Angela and Shawn joined us, and we casually enjoyed some wine, chips, hotdogs and smokies, and Angela brought cheesecake bars.  She also brought the music. I forgot to include this cute wee figure I picked up as a gift for Todd this past week. I wuvs thems...

Another Birthday

On Monday, April 3rd, my little Svester turned 38.  She didn't want to spend her day alone, so we met up in Yorkton for a bit of shopping and some lunch.  We had a ridiculous amount of fun looking at all the cute things out for Spring. I bought her these garden stakes of the pig and cow.  She adores them.       I bought her the mouse, she bought herself the wee owl.       She bought me the turtle, Cruiser is his name.       It was a gorgeous day, she needed to head home to spend some time on the deck with her puppies and I needed to go make these...chichens on a branch.  I made 4 and I love them.       I also enjoyed the outdoors a bit, I set up the fire pit area and saw my first butterfly.  It really was the perfect day.

A Round-Up

The nice weather had us doing a bit of early yard clean-up day before yesterday.  There is a lot of gravel in the ditch along the road where we usually mow, so there's Todd raking it into piles which will be gathered up later with the tractor.   Jared took a wee walk about the yard with me and we had some fun.   I met Ang and Amy at Sweet Wanderings for a belated birthday lunch on the 31st. It was a nice treat.   An afternoon walk showed us that the geese are back in all their impressive numbers.    And last but not least, last night we finally watched Forest Gump as a family. "Beautiful and life changing," said KK.  Jared- "That was just great!" It was wonderful to be able to share this old favourite of ours with our kids.
