September is Gone

Image
I have no idea where it went, but September is over. We've already seen mid-block progress reports. The leaves are turning and falling quickly. I hate to think of what's just around the corner. But, I'll cross that bridge when I get there. Maybe we'll have a mild winter. In the meantime,  I'll continue to enjoy my favourite season as much as my mood will allow.

Small Indulgences

Image
I have to admit that these Dragon drinks have gotten wildly out of hand. My goal is to drastically reduce them to no more than 2 per week starting in October, which is here in 2 days. I'm sure I'll miss them, but my body will likely thank me for it. I think I'll miss the social aspect of my daily visits to Starbucks most of all. It's a small moment, but there is almost always a friendly encounter. With my social life being non-existent, it's a significant thing. And, when they write me special little notes, it makes me feel loved in the world, as though I belong. But, I have got to find a healthier (and less expensive) way to get that feeling.  I picked up this beautiful candle from With These Hands. It has an amazing scent and I will get a lovely dough bowl at its end. I'm kinda sorta considering selling my bookmarks again. This store is quite pretty and I'm sure it's legitimate.  Unlike the last place whose owner up and left with everyone's money.

Walking

Image
I took my longest walk yet yesterday morning.  It was nice on the way out, yucky wind on the way back, and I was glad for my toque.  Shaggy Manes are growing along the path and they are huge this years. A squirrel has been frequenting our back yard, much to Sooty's entertainment.  Blackbirds are gathering in large numbers and making alot of noise.

Close Encounter

Image
On my walk to Starbucks one morning, a crow was perched on the bridge as I was walking across. He looked me straight in eye as if daring me to get closer. I dared, and got a great shot off my phone. I haven't had my DSLR out in a long while and I really should change that. I've missed some great opportunities.

Jared

Image
Not a great start to his grade 12 year, a speeding ticket has set him back $310. Quite a hefty fine for a kid that only works 12 hours a week at Edo Japan and loves to drive around when gas is so bloody expensive.  Between fuel, his love for Manga and Magic cards, the poor guy can barely save any money. As parents, we hope he starts to learn very soon how good it feels to have money in the bank.

Full Swing

Image
Everything was going smoothly until they moved onto the last quarter of wheat yesterday afternoon. That quarter was swahed only five days ago and isn't even close to ready. I was all  packed and ready for have a day on the grain truck. Oh well, that's farming,  completely unpredictable.  And yes, that is me driving the old grain truck. Next, I'll learn to drive to green one, which is a semiautomatic. And maybe,  just maybe, I'll learn how unload the combines. The mousie is from a family that Jared and I found while weeding the rings.

Green Is Good

But yellow, orange and red are better. I'm looking forward to posting these photos again when autumn brings on her wonders.

The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

Image
The leaves haven't started to turn yet, but school is back in session, and harvest is well underway,  so it's decorating time. I'd be all done if the stores had any pumpkins yet. Soon, I hope.

Wolf Children

After enjoying the movie so much, I couldn't resist when I saw the book while out shopping with Jared. I'm looking forward to reading my first Anime. Apparently,  there is also a novel. I'll be keeping my eye out for that as well.

A Long Awaited Visit

Image
We moved to Yorkton in July of last year, and even though she's been to the city several times, Amy hadn't visited us. She finally made the time yesterday when she came in to do some last minute school shopping with Ethan and Elise. So, I showed them around the house and we visited for a couple of hours before we headed out to do several hours of shopping. We hit up Value Village and a couple places in the mall. I decided to catch up on the past two years of missed birthdays and bought the kids a piece of clothing each. I even found myself a hoodie.

Kitties

Image
I met a new kitty on my morning walk yesterday.  He sat still for a photo,  but would not let me near him. I think I'll call him Giggles.  Then, of course there's our kitties. Jared has been bringing Sooty out for short visits without his leash. He hasn't tried to make a run for it yet. Sooty loves the grass so much. I had just mowed, so he was covered in clippings.  Just look at the sass Sooty is giving me from the hutch. Georgia and him are hoping for snacks. I can't walk through the kitchen without them asking for something.

An Evening Stroll

Image
I was surprised when I walked outside at 8pm and it was already quite dark. Just on the edge of my comfort zone,  actually.  It was beautiful out though.  The Cheshire cat was beaming and I met a mysterious Simamese kitty. He didn't move a muscle, just stared me down, daring me to come Pet him. I didn't even try.
