A Rock Concert

Image
Channel 22 put on a good show tonight. Jared looked so good on stage. It suits him in a very easy going kind of way. Whereas,  Hudson is well suited to the stage in a very energetic way.  Daheel is just charismatic. One of the other kids, Griffin, we don't know him, but it's worth mentioning his skills on the guitar.

Refresh

Image
It was a hot and muggy morning. It's 2pm now and we are having a very noisy thunderstorm. But it's oddly calm, and I am able to sit on my swing while the rain falls straight down.  I love the overhangs on this house.  I had quite a bit of leftover soil, so I filled several planters and seeded them with marigolds and nasturtium. I didn't have much luck with it last year, but I can't understand why, so I'm trying again.

Just a Normal Monday

Image
Todd took Jared to his safe grad on Saturday night, and they didn't get home until 5am. So, yesterday was a rest day. But, everyone was back at their standard post today. Jared went back to school, Todd went picking stones, and I got a lot of stuff done around the house. After school,  Jared wanted to go pick out some shorts, so we came home with a few new things. Oh, and I decided to buy myself some flowers.  It has been far too long since I've received any. They were only 6 bucks,  but they're so pretty. Simple carnations in the softest colours.

The Big Day

Image
It was a long day. Todd and Jared are off to safe grad, and I'm home in bed recounting the day. Mass at 1pm, then back to the school for the Commencements, then to the hall for the banquet.  Jared decided last minute that he really didn't want to do the first dance, and I was okay with that, so we got home at 9:30pm.

Discomfort

Image
We picked up a harness for Dusty because he's continually trying to sneak out the door when we're going in and out. He really didn't like it, but I think he'll get used to it. Jared took his longboard out for a spin this evening.  He was enjoying the ease of going downhill on Darlington,  and pushed it a little too much. He got too much speed, and now just look at the bloody mess. Ouches.

Gardening

Image
It's been awhile since I planted a vegetable garden. We moved to Yorkton in 2021, so it's been 2 years. It's just a small patch of vegetables - potatoes, carrots, corn, peas, green beans,  yellow beans, onions, zucchini, and three types of squash that will double as lovely fall decor. I don't know how it will do without me being around every day to tend to it, but we'll see. Jared helped out, so I can blame him if things are crooked.

Halloween in May

Image
Ainsley is throwing a birthday party for Sophie, and it is a costume party. Should be a fun time.

Hair Day Etc

Image
I spent the afternoon reading my new book, "The Covenant of Water" by Abraham Verghese. It's Oprah's latest pick and it's not bad so far. Jared got his hair trimmed for grad. They took quite a lot off, but it it looks great.  And we picked up a new scratching post for the kitties.  Dusty loves it.  I'm hoping it will keep him from scratching the sideboard.

Ready

Image
$630 later, and Jared is ready for his big day. Amy called today, and now someone else is in need of a suit. Owen and Meaghan are getting married on June 15 of 2024!

Another Last Time

Image
This evening was the last time we'll see one of our children in a school play. Here's our wonderful Jared playing the part of the dapper piano man. "Murder or something" was written by students, including two of Jared's good friends,  Dajeel and Hudson. Jared helped Hudson write the music for between the scenes.
