Baby, It's Hot Outside

Image
We are having unseasonably warm temperatures. It's great for the crops, but not so great for long walks. But, I took one anyway and changed my clothes when I got home.  I got to see Pippin today. He really enjoyed the attention.  And although I see Baby often, this the first time I took a photo of him. He just loves his walks.

Wolf Children

Image
KK recommended this movie to me a long time ago and I finally got around to watching it. I had to order it from Amazon, and I'm so glad I did. It made me cry because it made me happy. It made me cry because it made sad. It made cry because it made me angry.  It ripped my heart out as it made me feel the reality of having to let my children go. It left me feeling raw. A beautiful work of art.

The Rest

Image
We let Jared sleep in, of course, and we let him go through 540 new Magic cards before he crawled out of his room. That would be considered an ideal start to his day. Dad ended up having to go to the farm to start combining peas, but before he did, he made one of Jared's favourite meals - creole. I later took him shopping for a few books and new sweaters for fall. Tonight, he has yet another birthday party with his other friend group. This might be his best birthday yet.

Seventeen!

I would say it's hard to believe that my baby is 17 years old today, but I came to terms with it awhile back. Maybe that's because I've already been through it once before. Jared's awesome friends threw him a little party last night. I'm not sure what the apes are about. Maybe it's because he has a giant King Kong poster in his room. And I'm really confused about the jersey.  I'll ask him later.

Trouble Makers

Image
These two are trouble.  Never more trouble than they're worth, but sometimes I could just spit at them. Sooty get adventurous and jumps onto places that regularly threaten the safety of some of my most prized possessions.  Georgia, while beautiful,  is the grossest cat I've ever met. Not only is she greedy, but the ass wiping on the floor is too much. But the love goes on.

Almost The End

Image
I'm going to miss these scenes. Crows, ducks, avocets, flowers. Most of all, I'll miss clear sidewalks. I'm getting a little ahead of myself, but with haven't starting,  possibly today, winter isn't far behind. At least it's sweater season. So, it's not all bad.

Enjoying the Yard

Image
Honey, you were right. The rocks look great! I'm so glad that the messy perenials are out out of here. I feel so much more relaxed now. Pretty soon, I'll have to start on the fall decor. The combines are ready and might be out as early as next week. Summer passed so quickly. So glad to have a Mr. that's a jack-of-all-trades!

Walking

Image
It's not the prettiest walk down Darlington, up Dracup and around to Starbucks,  but there are an unusual amount of ducks in this slough under the walking bridge. Life is always a little more pleasant where ducks are involved.

Soots

Image
It was too hot, even for the kitty who loves his heat. We managed a little over 30 minutes before it was time to head back in.

Rock Upgrade

Image
We decided we wanted to clean up the look of the backyard gardens. I cleaned out all the messy, unwanted perenials awhile back. We laid the ground fabric, and sacrificing himself fo the project, Todd drove in the old, old grain truck to get the rocks from Yorkton Concrete. My Dad's discount had run out, but it was only a couple hundred dollars for 4 yards, which a bit more than we needed.

Morning Walk

Image
A foggy morning makes for a more interesting walk.

Regina Again

Image
This time to pick up a combine header. It took us a little while to get the trailer highway safe, but we left the city by 2 and we arrived at the farm at 5:30. So we made better time than we thought.  The trailer pulled great, the truck had no problems - success!
